SPOTLIGHT: ZINGERMAN'S DELI
August 19th, 2022 • 4 minute read

Did you know that custom apparel can be a fun, supplemental revenue source for almost any business? And what’s better than seeing someone walking around town with your branded merch? One local business has been utilizing custom apparel for years, helping them become one of the most famous jewish delis in the country, alongside Katz’s, Langers and Frankel’s.

Zingerman’s Deli, in Ann Arbor, MI, started very small but has since grown way beyond that! Since 1982, Zingerman’s has transformed itself from a single delicatessen to multiple businesses that make and sell bread, coffee, candy and even training! With an emphasis on education, flavor, tradition, and integrity of ingredients, Zingerman’s has been able to create a living culinary laboratory where customers can encounter everything from corned beef and noodle kugel to estate-bottled Tuscan olive oil to terrific grits from South Carolina! Delicious food aside, Zingerman’s is a place where people will leave having a rewarding and enjoyable experience full of unique flavors, fresh ingredients, and good company. It’s the kind of spot where you can try new things while enjoying time with great friends in a welcoming, community atmosphere!

For some history, the deli first opened in 1982 as soon as the building became available. While the first customer entered the first morning of opening, there were only two employees on the payroll. Upon opening, they offered a small but meaningful selection of made-to-order deli sandwiches, a solid selection of much-loved Jewish specialties, a couple refrigerated cases filled with cured meats, traditionally made cheeses, and smoked fish. At the register, there were stacked loaves of bread and pastries from various local bakeries. The growth Zingerman’s has been able to accomplish is truly astounding! Any visitor that comes to Ann Arbor has to visit Zingerman's, even the President:

Not only do they make THE BEST deli sandwiches, but they also expanded their offerings and now sell groceries and specialty items, some of which you won’t find anywhere else! Whether you’re looking for everyday staples, pantry ingredients, or your favorite specialty foods, Zingerman’s really does have something for everyone.

Overall, shopping at Zingerman’s Deli is a completely different experience than shopping at your local grocery store. For starters, they actually know exactly where their food comes from! The lovely people at Zingerman’s travel all over the world to find the best artisanal foods and take time to get to know the producers and learn about the products they’re buying. Zingerman’s always selects the best of the batch and takes great care of all the food they provide! Even though they are known for having the best customer service in the business, they are truly experts at their craft too.

While people love the Deli most for their sandwiches and specialty foods, many people also take home a souvenir t-shirt to remember their experience. Zingerman’s Deli wanted to take advantage of their strong guest loyalty by offering their own merchandise more broadly. They have customers from around the country and wanted an online store solution that could keep up with the demand for merchandise and provide excellent customer service. We were proud to collaborate with them this summer and launch their NEW merch store that features their retro designs, current imagery and, of course, their famous sandwiches. Check it out for yourself!

We’re appreciative of our partnership with Zingerman’s Deli and all of our other amazing small business customers! Next time you’re in the Ann Arbor, MI area, make sure you stop by Zingerman’s Deli! (PS, our favorite sandwiches are #2, #73 and #81).
